Terms of Use
Effective 5 November 2026
By using Astraya you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Astraya is published by Tam Duc Studio, an individual developer in Vietnam. You can reach us at hamhansamu@proton.me.
What Astraya is
Astraya draws tarot cards and writes a reading about them using a language model. It is entertainment and self-reflection. It is not a prediction of the future, and it is not medical, financial, legal, or psychological advice. If something in your life needs a professional, please see one.
The AI readers in the app are fictional characters. They are not real people, they hold no qualifications, and they have no history of reading for anyone. Their replies are generated by software, and the app tells you so before you send your first message.
If you write something suggesting you may be in danger, the app shows crisis support information instead of a reading. That is a safety measure, not a service — please contact the listed help line or your local emergency number.
Who may use it
You must be 16 or older.
Your account
You can use most of Astraya without an account. Signing in with Google (or with Apple, on iPhone) is required to subscribe, because a subscription belongs to your account rather than to a handset — that is what lets your Premium follow you to a new phone, automatically, the next time you sign in.
Keep your Google or Apple account secure. Anything done through a signed-in session counts as done by you.
Free use, and what Premium adds
| Free | Premium | |
|---|---|---|
| Single-card readings | 3 a day — 2 directly, 1 more after watching a rewarded advertisement | 10 a day |
| Three-card readings, including themed spreads (love, career, a choice between two options) | 5 a day — 2 directly, 3 more after watching a rewarded advertisement | 10 a day |
| Celtic Cross reading (10 cards) | 1 free try, once ever, then 1 a week after watching a rewarded advertisement | 3 a day |
| Yes-or-no question | 3 free tries, once ever, then 1 a day after watching a rewarded advertisement | 10 a day |
| Card of the day | 1 a day, on its own allowance that does not consume your readings | 1 a day |
| Messages to an AI reader | 30 to try, once ever — not per day; after that, 3 a day after watching a rewarded advertisement | refills over time |
| Follow-up questions about a reading | included — each uses one message | included |
| Advertisements | shown | none |
Free tries are once ever and do not reset. Once your Celtic Cross try is used, you can unlock one Celtic Cross reading a week by watching a rewarded advertisement; beyond that, the spread needs Premium. Once your 30 trial messages are used, watching one rewarded advertisement a day gives you 3 more messages for that day.
Every conversation with an AI reader is tied to one card and closes after 8 questions about it — at both tiers. Each question, including a follow-up about a reading, uses one message from the allowance above; there is no separate allowance for them. When a card closes, the reader says so in character and that reply costs you nothing.
Allowances reset on a fixed clock in UTC, not in your local time: daily allowances at 00:00 UTC, and the message allowance at 00:00, 06:00, 12:00 and 18:00 UTC. What each tier gives you is always shown in the app before you pay for anything, and if we change it the app shows the new terms.
Limits are enforced on our servers. Attempting to bypass them, to automate requests, or to resell access is a breach of these terms and we may end your access.
Premium subscription
Premium is sold as a weekly, monthly, or yearly subscription through Google Play (Android) or the App Store (iPhone).
- The price you pay is the one Google Play or the App Store shows you at checkout, in your currency and including any local tax. We do not quote prices here, because they differ by country and by any promotion running at the time.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period, at the then-current price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You cancel in the store, not in the app: on Android, Play Store → your profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions; on iPhone, Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Premium until the end of the period you already paid for.
- Refunds are handled by the store under Google's or Apple's refund policy. We cannot take a payment or issue a refund ourselves, because we never receive your payment details. If you are in a country where the law gives you a right of withdrawal, that right applies on top of the store's policy.
- Premium is tied to the account you bought it with. Sign in with that account on a new device and your subscription is recognised automatically. On iPhone, Restore purchases on the Premium screen also brings back a subscription bought with the same Apple ID.
- If a payment is pending or fails, the app says so and no benefit is granted until the store confirms the purchase. You are not charged twice for a retry.
Advertising
The free tier shows advertisements from Google AdMob, including video advertisements you can choose to watch in exchange for an extra reading or extra messages to an AI reader. Watching one unlocks the reading it promised. If the reward cannot be verified straight away, we do not take the reading from you — you can retry with the same reward. Your advertising consent choice is yours to change at any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices.
Your content
The questions and notes you write remain yours. You grant us only what is needed to run the service: sending your question and the drawn cards to our language-model provider so that a reading can be written, and storing the resulting reading so the app can show it back to you. What is stored, and for how long, is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Your reading history is stored on your device and is capped at the 20 most recent readings. We do not back it up. Losing or wiping the device loses that history, and signing in does not change this.
Do not use Astraya to send content that is unlawful, that harasses or threatens anyone, or that you have no right to send.
Community rooms
Astraya has community rooms where you can talk with other people — not with an AI. The rooms are shared with users of our other app, Starsign; a small logo next to each message shows which app its author is using. Messages in the rooms are written by real people, are not checked by us before they appear, and do not represent our views.
To post you must be signed in with Google (or with Apple, on iPhone) and choose a nickname and an avatar. Anyone using either app, signed in or not, can read what you post, alongside your nickname and avatar. Do not put your real name, phone number, address, or other personal details in your nickname or your messages. You can change your nickname once every 7 days (your first change is free), and a nickname you give up stays reserved for you for 30 days, so nobody else can take it to pretend to be you. By creating your community profile, you accept these rules.
Free accounts can post 30 messages a day (reset at 00:00 UTC); Premium has no daily limit. Both tiers are limited in how fast they can post, to stop flooding.
When you post, you must not:
- harass, threaten, bully, or demean anyone, or target anyone for who they are;
- post sexual content, or any content involving minors in a sexual way;
- post content that is unlawful, violent, hateful, or that promotes self-harm;
- spam, advertise, or ask people to contact you outside the app — links, phone numbers and email addresses are blocked automatically;
- impersonate another person, us, or an AI reader in the app.
We filter messages automatically for banned words and contact details, and a message that is filtered is not posted. You can report any message and block any user from the message itself. A report covers both the message and the person who wrote it: moderators can ban the author from the rooms, not only hide the message. To report a user for something that is not in one message, write to hamhansamu@proton.me with their nickname. A blocked user's messages are hidden from you. We review reports, and we may hide any message and suspend or permanently ban anyone from the rooms who breaks these rules, without notice. A ban from the rooms does not affect your subscription or the rest of the app.
Penalties increase step by step. A first violation gets a warning, a second a 24-hour mute, a third a 7-day mute and a fourth a permanent ban; each penalty counts for 90 days. Impersonating our staff or the app, scams or asking for money, sexual content involving minors and threats lead to a permanent ban the first time. You can appeal a penalty from the app. Our staff always show an Official badge in the rooms and never ask for money or passwords.
Your messages remain yours. By posting you allow us to display them to users of Astraya and Starsign for as long as they are kept. Messages are deleted automatically 30 days after they are posted.
If you see something that puts someone in immediate danger, contact your local emergency number first, then report it to us.
Availability, and when the service degrades
We may change, suspend, or discontinue Astraya or any part of it. Language-model providers and advertising networks can fail or reach their limits, and when they do the app falls back to a shorter, pre-written reading — clearly marked as such — or asks you to try again later. A marked fallback reading is not a defect, and it is not presented as a reading written for your question.
Ending your access
You can stop using Astraya at any time, cancel your subscription in Google Play or the App Store, delete your account in the app, and ask us to delete your data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end access if you breach these terms, and if we do we will tell you why unless the law prevents us.
Liability
Astraya is provided as is. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any decision you take on the basis of a reading, nor for indirect or consequential loss. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you hold under mandatory consumer law in your country, and nothing here excludes liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Vietnam, and disputes belong to the courts of Vietnam — except where the mandatory consumer law of your own country of residence gives you the right to bring a claim there instead.
Third-party content
Some artwork, symbols and software in Astraya come from other people and are used under their own licences. They are credited on our third-party notices page.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change in a way that matters, the app shows you the new version before you carry on using it. The date at the top always says which version you are reading.
